Hardik, Karthik added to World XI squad

India allrounder Hardik Pandya and wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik have been named in a World XI squad that will take on West Indies in the Hurricane Relief Twenty20 Challenge on May 31 at Lord's.

Hardik and Karthik, who are currently playing in the IPL for Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively are among nine players who have been confirmed for the World XI squad. The team, led by the England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan, also includes Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik from Pakistan, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal from Bangladesh, Thisara Perera from Sri Lanka and Rashid Khan from Afghanistan.

The charity fixture will mark Hardik's debut at Lord's while Karthik has already featured in an ODI and a Test at the venue.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for fans of the Indian team to come out and watch these two flamboyant players, who bring both class and star value to what I'm sure will be a memorable match at Lord's," former ECB chief Giles Clarke, who is supporting the event, said.

"People would remember Pandya's valiant 43-ball 76 against Pakistan in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy last year while Karthik too has played Test cricket at Lord's. He has been in terrific form and recently blasted 29 off eight deliveries and sealed victory over Bangladesh in the final of the Nidahas Trophy with a last-ball six."

The West Indies side will be captained by Carlos Brathwaite and will include Chris Gayle, Andre Russell and Evin Lewis.The proceeds from the game will go towards the restoration of five cricket venues in the Caribbean that bore the brunt of the Category 5 hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Back-to-back World T20s to replace Champions Trophy | Cricket

Say goodbye to the Champions Trophy - again - and get ready for back-to-back editions of the World T20. The future of one of the most popular ODI tournaments has been seemingly sealed with the ICC board moving to replace the 2021 Champions Trophy, scheduled to be held in India, with a World T20. That will be the second World T20 in two years, following the 2020 event in Australia. India will host 2021 World T20, as well as the 2023 World Cup.

"ICC Members have signed off a new Future Tours Programme (FTP) for 2019-2023 that incorporates the introduction of a World Test Championship and an additional ICC World T20 event in place of the Champions Trophy in 2021," an ICC release said. "This provides opportunities for 16 teams to compete at a global level with a sub-regional, regional and global qualification process every two years, giving more regular cricket to more Members."

This will be the second time the World T20 has been held in consecutive years: in 2009 the event was held in England and then, less than a year later, in West Indies. It is the third time, since the 2009 Champions Trophy, that its death has been announced.

The ICC's management had proposed the switch, and had spoken to the BCCI about it in Auckland last October. At the time, BCCI officials said they "needed to see the financial implications" of the decision. The idea was for the ICC's chief executives' committee (CEC) to then deliberate the pros and cons of such a move before a decision.

But the CEC never got the opportunity. ESPNcricinfo understands the ICC board took the decision at the next ICC meeting in Dubai on February 9, with the approval of Amitabh Choudhary, the BCCI's treasurer. The minutes of that meeting, seen by ESPNcricinfo, include the ICC's intention to "convert" the 2021 Champions Trophy to a World Twenty20 with "45 matches". This week in Kolkata, the decision was notified to the CEC.

That February meeting and Choudhary's approval is important because before this week's meetings, Choudhary had spoken publicly of not being in favour of the move because it could cause a loss to the BCCI.

It now remains to be seen how the BCCI's members will react. According to Choudhary, the board's general body had, in the past, given an "in principle" nod to the FTP that listed the Champions Trophy for 2021. "We don't know what transpired on February 9 and this week, but it will definitely be brought to the general body which will take the final call," he told ESPNcricinfo.

There could be a couple of reasons behind the switch. According to one ICC board director, concern over lower revenue payouts to Full Members necessitated the need. The financial revenue model agreed upon last June assures all 12 Full Members a portion of revenue from the projected USD 2.7 billion the ICC is estimated to make in the 2016-23 rights cycle.

"They said the market is weak," the director said, referring to the belief that a World T20, with more matches, would raise more revenue than a Champions Trophy. "And this could be the reason they are converting to World T20."

Another official familiar with the negotiations said the ICC board agreed because the World T20 will be a more inclusive tournament with 16 teams, as opposed to just eight in a Champions Trophy.

According to that official, although the Champions Trophy had settled upon a successful, short format, it was about "providing more opportunities in the format we are trying to use to expand the game. That was the driver."

The official said the ICC board will discuss "altering" the existing arrangement with Star India, who holds rights to all ICC events in the cycle, including a Champions Trophy in 2021. Star are believed to be receptive to the idea, though the official said they had still to "cross the t's and dot the i's" on it.

नई दिल्ली (जेएनएन)। कलम का सिपाही कहे या फिर कलम की धार से सत्ता को हिलाने का दम रखने वाला योद्धा या लोकतंत्र के चौथे स्तंभ का रक्षक...सीधे शब्दों में कहा जाए तो पत्रकार। दुनिया के किसी भी देश के उदय और उसकी प्रगति में पत्रकारों की अहम भूमिका रही है। भारत की आजादी के वक्त भी पत्रकारों ने महत्वपूर्ण किरदार अदा किया है, जिसे आज भी भुलाया नहीं जा सकता। साथ ही समाज में जाति-धर्म और संप्रदाय की गहरी खाई को भी कई बार पत्रकारों ने भरने का काम किया है। हालांकि समाज में पत्रकारों की स्वतंत्रता को कैद करने वालों की भी कमी नहीं है। जिस कारण प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता की मांग उठी और प्रत्येक वर्ष 3 मई को अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाया जाने लगा। इसकी शुरुआत 1993 में हुई थी, जिसका मकसद था दुनियाभर में स्वतंत्र पत्रकारिता का समर्थन करना और उसकी रक्षा करना। प्रेस किसी भी समाज का आइना होता है। प्रेस की आजादी से यह बात साबित होती है कि उस देश में अभिव्यक्ति की कितनी स्वतंत्रता है। भारत जैसे लोकतांत्रिक देश में प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता एक मौलिक जरूरत है।

स्वतंत्र प्रेस मतलब मजबूत लोकतंत्र

विश्व प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस के मौके पर प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने ट्वीट कर कहा, 'स्वतंत्र प्रेस एक मजबूत लोकतंत्र बनाता है। आज विश्व प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस के मौके पर हम एक स्वतंत्र प्रेस का समर्थन करने के लिए हमारी वचनबद्धता दर्शाए। यह विचारों और मानव अभिव्यक्ति की बहुलता है जो हमें समाज के रूप में अधिक जीवंत बनाता है।' उन्होंने आगे कहा कि मैं उन सभी लोगों की प्रशंसा करता हूं जो प्रेस की आजादी को बरकरार रखने के लिए काम कर रहे हैं।

अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस की शुरुआत

यूनेस्को की जनरल कॉन्फ्रेंस के सुझाव के बाद 1993 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने इसकी शुरुआत की, जिसके बाद से हर साल 3 मई को अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाया जाने लगा। यूनेस्को महासम्मेलन के 26वें सत्र में इससे संबंधित प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार किया गया था। इससे पहले नामीबिया में विंडहोक में हुए एक सम्मेलन में इस बात पर जोर दिया गया था कि प्रेस की आजादी को मुख्य रूप से बहुवाद और जनसंचार की आजादी की जरूरत के रूप में देखा जाना चाहिए।

'अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस' प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता का मूल्यांकन, प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता पर बाहरी तत्वों के हमले से बचाव और प्रेस की सेवा करते हुए दिवंगत हुए पत्रकारों को श्रद्धांजलि देने का दिन है। आज उन पत्रकारों को याद किया गया, जिन्होंने अपना फर्ज निभाते हुए जान तक दे दी, लेकिन लोकतंत्र के चौथे स्तंभ की गरिमा को मरते दम तक निभाया। 

मीडिया की स्वंतत्रता को लेकर चिंता

गौरतलब है कि बीते कुछ वक्त से पत्रकारों पर हमलों के मामलों में वृद्धि देखी गई है, जिस कारण मीडिया की स्वतंत्रता पर सवाल उठने लगे हैं। मीडिया वॉचडाग 'द हूट’ ने अपनी रिपोर्ट में कहा है कि दुनियाभर में पत्रकारों की आवाज को दबाया और कुचला जा रहा है और उसे लगातार निशाना बनाया जा रहा है। विश्व में पत्रकारों के हत्याओं के मामले में 57 फीसद वृद्धि हुई हैं। इन लगातार हमलों से मीडियाकर्मियों और पत्रकारों में भय का माहौल बनाया जा रहा है। पत्रकारों पर हमले के मामलों में अफगानिस्तान सबसे ऊपर है।

'Setting sun' sealed fate of Olympic Stadium as London venue is omitted from World Cup plans

The ICC was forced to abandon the notion of staging World Cup matches at London's Olympic Stadium next year, due to concerns that the setting sun would render one end of the pitch unusable from a playing and television perspective.

Despite a clear desire to incorporate East London's iconic stadium into plans for what has been billed as the "World's Greatest Cricket Celebration", the tournament organisers were forced to admit defeat when the World Cup fixtures were confirmed by the ICC this morning.

The omission was "very disappointing", said Steve Elworthy, the tournament director, who had envisaged turning the entire Olympic Park into a focal point for fans across London, with a particular emphasis on the Asian and Caribbean populations of the host borough, Newham.

This decision came after an exhaustive feasibility study, which even included Andrew Strauss and Eoin Morgan shadow-batting along the three orientations - North-South, East-West and 55-degree - that had been considered for the laying of the drop-in wickets that have been prepared at Lord's and Loughborough in the lead-up to the event.

Of these, the North-South option would have been the operational preference, in keeping with the majority of the other 11 selected venues, including Old Trafford - the host of the marquee India-Pakistan match - which rotated its own pitch by 90 degrees as part of a major redevelopment in 2010.

However, the studies concluded that a North-South pitch would have caused too much upheaval to the architecture of the stadium, which includes permanent replay screens at both ends of the ground, both of which would be rendered unusable due to their impacting on the batsman's line of sight.

That would have necessitated the erection of temporary replacement scoreboards and TV gantries, while the press facilities, currently situated on the west side of the ground, would have had to have been moved behind the bowler's arm at the southern end. The overall impact, not to mention the exorbitant costs of such a refit, would have been the loss of approximately 28,000 seats - or the equivalent of a full house at Lord's.

The notion of angling the wicket at 55 degrees across the venue was ruled out for similar logistical reasons - oblique sight-screens and overflow press facilities would have had to be erected, while the spectator experience of watching from seats not directly aligned to the action would have been unsatisfactory.

The only option would have been to face the setting sun, but for a left-hander such as Morgan in particular, this would have necessitated staring directly into the light for the latter part of a day-game.

"The sun was a big challenge," said Morgan. "What they have at the moment is a Perspex roof, which allowed the sun to come directly over the bowler's arm, and to have it in the opposite direction would have meant a bit of a shorter boundary. There were a lot more challenges, but we did go out and have a look at it. It's a beautiful stadium."

Further challenges included the repositioning of the floodlights, which have been folded in from their previous high position during the 2012 Olympics and are now just 20 metres from the ground - good for West Ham's purposes as a football club but far from ideal for high catches in cricket.

And West Ham's residency caused more complications for the ICC - with a six-week turnaround required at either end of the football season creating an extremely limited window for test events.

Despite from interest from Essex in particular since the stadium's inception, the venue has never yet hosted a cricket match of any length, and the likelihood of that ever now happening seems remote, at least while West Ham remain the venue's principal tenants.

Despite suggestions that West Ham's under-soil heating would have been an issue for the laying of the drop-in wickets, the bigger concern for the ICC was the fear of serious injury - akin to that of Simon Jones at Brisbane in the 2002-03 Ashes - on what would have had to be a raised sand-based outfield.

वर्ल्ड प्रेस फ्रीडम डे पूरी दुनिया में आज मनाया जा रहा है। दुनियाभर की नामचीन हस्तियां इस मौके पर पत्रकारों को बधाई दे रही हैं। वैश्विक संगठन यूनेस्को ने ट्वीट कर लिखा- पत्रकारिता कोई अपराध नहीं है। बिना सुरक्षित पत्रकारिता के सुरक्षित सूचना हो नहीं सकती। बिना सूचना के कोई आजादी नहीं होती। आज और रोजाना प्रेस की आजादी के लिए खड़े हों। 


भारत में पत्रकारिता को लोकतंत्र का चौथा स्तंभ माना जाता है। मगर हमारे देश में पत्रकारों की स्थिति पिछले कुछ सालों के दौरान बदतर हुई है। वर्ल्ड प्रेस फ्रीडम इंडेक्स की 180 मजबूत देशों की सूची में भारत तीन पायदान फिसलकर 136वें नंबर पर आ गया है। इससे पहले भारत 133वें स्थान पर था। इस सूची में पहले नंबर पर जहां नॉर्वे है, वहीं दक्षिण कोरिया सबसे नीचे पायदान पर मौजूद है। पूरी दुनिया में इस समय 193 पत्रकार जेल में हैं। 

भारत के पिछले सात सालों के आंकड़ों पर नजर डालें तो परिस्थिति चिंताजनक बनी हुई है। साल 2012 में 74, 2013 में 73, 2014 में 61, 2015 में 73, 2016 में 48, 2017 में 46 और साल 2018 में अब तक 14 पत्रकारों ने काम के दौरान अपनी जान गंवाई है। यानी सात सालों में 389 पत्रकारों की जान केवल भारत में गई है।

दुनिया पत्रकारों के लिए नर्क वाली जगह बन चुकी है। वर्ल्ड प्रेस फ्रीडम इंडेक्स में 21 देशों को काले रंग में दिखाया गया है। जिसका मतलब है कि इन देशों में प्रेस की आजादी बहुत खराब है। वही 51 देशों को खराब स्थिति वाले वर्ग में रखा गया है। 

इंडियन नेशनल कांग्रेस ने पत्रकारों को प्रेस फ्रीडम की बधाई देते हुए लिखा है- आज भारतीय पत्रकारों के लिए कठिन समय है। ईमानदार और संतुलित आवाजों को झूठ से दबा दिया जाता है। यह बहुत जरूरी है कि हमारे लोकतंत्र के चौथे स्तंभ को मजबूत बनाया जाए और इसे और निडर बनाने के लिए योगदान दिया जाए।

केंद्रीय मंत्री धर्मेंद्र प्रधान ने भी पत्रकारों को सूचना का महत्वपूर्ण जरिया बताया है। उन्होंने लिखा- मुक्त और ईमानदार प्रेस लोकतंत्र के रीढ़ है। प्रेस हमेशा से दुनिया भर में सूचना, आलोचना और संचार का एक महत्वपूर्ण माध्यम रहा है। इसलिए प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता आवश्यक है।

इसके अलावा दिल्ली, आगरा, कानपुर, वाराणसी, मुजफ्फरपुर, गया और श्रीनगर में भी वायु प्रदूषण का स्तर काफी ज्यादा है। ये सभी उन 14 शहरों में शामिल हैं जहां सबसे ज्यादा प्रदूषण है। आईआईटी कानपुर के साइंस एक्सपर्ट प्रोफेसर सच्चिदानंद त्रिपाठी ने कहा कि हम एक दशक से इस बारे में स्टडी कर रहे हैं और इसमें कुछ भी नया और आश्चर्यचकित करने वाला नहीं है। 

वायु प्रदूषण का सबसे बड़ा स्त्रोत पीएम(पार्टिकुलेट मैटर) को माना गया है। जिसमें नाइट्रेट, सल्फेट और काले कार्बन जैसे प्रदूषक शामिल हैं। प्रदूषित शहरों में पहले नंबर पर कानपुर है। फरीदाबाद, वाराणसी, गया, पटना, दिल्ली, लखनऊ, आगरा, मुजफ्फरपुर, श्रीनगर, गुरुग्राम, जयपुर, पटियाला और जोधपुर भी इस लिस्ट में शामिल हैं। 

डब्ल्यूएचओ की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, धरती पर 10 में से 9 लोग सांस के रूप में प्रदूषित हवा लेते हैं, और इससे हर साल 7 मिलियन लोगों की मौत हो जाती है। हृदय रोग, स्ट्रोक और फेफड़ों के कैंसर से लगभग एक चौथाई मौत की वजह वायु प्रदूषण ही होता है।

Groundwork for 2023 World Cup begins at WCL Division Four

The qualifying process for next year's World Cup in England may have just ended last month in Zimbabwe, but for some countries the planning process for the 2023 World Cup is already in full swing. Six teams are in Malaysia this week with their end goal being that event, the first step of which is gaining promotion from World Cricket League Division Four.

But staying course for qualification for the 2023 World Cup is not the only dangling carrot on display in Kuala Lumpur. Netherlands' progression from Division Two into the World Cricket League Championship in 2015 paved the way for a spot in the 13-team ODI League and ODI status. Likewise, the six participants in Malaysia - Uganda, Malaysia, Denmark, Bermuda, Jersey and Vanuatu - are hoping that they can move up and gain a spot in the next edition of WCL Championship, anticipated to start in 2020, which brings with it precious fixtures to grow and develop.

This is the fifth time Malaysia has hosted a WCL tournament, two more than any other country. It is ideal not just for its fairly central location in the context of a truly global tournament but also for the quality of the facilities - whether it is fully constructed stands and pavilions or sand-based outfield drainage which neutralises mid-afternoon monsoon rains - that are arguably the best in the Associate world, outside of the UAE.

Here's a look at the six contenders:

Uganda

Fifth at 2017 WCL Division Three

Since WCL Division Five in Jersey in 2008, the hosts have historically finished in the top two 62% of the time, thereby securing promotion to the next division more often than not. Others put in average performances and stay in their division. But Uganda suffered the rare, shocking indignity of being relegated as hosts 11 months ago in Kampala. The consequences of a reduced fixtures list meant that long-time captain Davis Karashani has had to temporarily step away from the national team due to university and work commitments at age 31.

Never a team that blows opponents away, they have always lurked around the higher divisions of the WCL due to their team-first ethos. Uganda remains one of the most intense fielding units on the circuit, regularly defending low totals in spite of a shaky batting unit. Under new leader Roger Mukasa and with the ageless allrounder Frank Nsubuga still contributing, don't expect that to change too much in Malaysia.

Player to watch: Mohammed Irfan

The nephew of Shahid Afridi turns the ball the other way with the arm, but like his uncle he is a monster basher of the ball when the mood calls for it. He was the team's leading wicket-taker and scorer at last year's Division Three, which included a blistering 108 not out off 71 balls against Malaysia.

Sixth at 2017 WCL Division Three

The tournament hosts have been hit or miss on home soil in the past: promoted as the runners-up at 2011 Division Six and 2014 Division Five; relegated at 2012 Division Four, and a mid-table finish at 2014 Division Three. A poor performance last year in Uganda followed by the departure from the playing squad of several senior players including Khizar Hayat means they are not considered favorites for promotion.

In a squad that is desperate for regeneration, a pair with expectations pinned for leading a revival are the Singh brothers, Virandeep and Pavandeep. The younger of the two, Virandeep is a promising batsman while Pavandeep's tall and lanky frame makes his left-arm spin awkward to face when released from his height.

Player to watch: Muhammad Wafiq

The medium pacer's stats may not look too impressive, but, at 22, he is fairly quick by Associate standards. In a squad with more bowling depth he'd have more freedom as a strike bowler, but he still has the capacity to cause some damage before teams pick on the weaker links in the Malaysia attack.

Denmark

Third at 2016 WCL Division Four

Like Malaysia, Denmark is a team in a state of flux and will have to adjust quickly to squad turnover in order to have success over the next week. Gone are former England Test quick Amjad Khan, fellow medium pacer Aftab Ahmed and offspinning ex-captain Michael Pedersen.

New captain Hamid Shah has been tasked with the responsibility of shepherding the squad into a new era, but he still can depend on the veteran presence of Freddie Klokker for runs at the top of the order.

Player to watch: Bashir Shah

On Malaysian pitches, which traditionally offer plenty of assistance to spinners, the left-armer is expected to be a handful to face. He took 13 in five games at the last Division Four in Los Angeles as well as another 13 the last time Denmark was in Malaysia for Division Four in 2012.

Fourth place at 2016 Division Four

The squad has been slowly spiralling toward Associate oblivion ever since their pinnacle moment of going to the 2007 World Cup. However, they temporarily arrested the decline 18 months ago in Los Angeles with a surprisingly resilient performance. After being blown out by the two sides that eventually gained promotion - USA and Oman - on the first two days of the tournament, they bounced back with wins over Denmark and Jersey, the former costing Denmark a promotion spot.

Despite the absence of up-and-coming phenom Delray Rawlins - he has represented England Under-19s in the past, and, as a fully contracted Sussex player, could not get permission to play at this tournament - the squad still comprises some promising talent. Among them is Cejay Outerbridge, who took 11 wickets in Los Angeles to lead the attack, and top-order batsman Tre Manders.

Player to watch: Kamau Leverock

After wallowing in the lower-middle order for most of his senior-team career, the allrounder's coming-of-age occurred in Los Angeles when he was promoted to open two matches into the tournament. He responded with 137 off 111 balls against Jersey and hasn't budged from the top of the order since. Now he is one of the most explosive hitters on the Associate circuit. That he can contribute handy medium pace is a bonus. And yes, he's the nephew of that man Dwayne.

Jersey

First place at 2017 Division Five

Jersey seem to have been moving back and forth between Division Four and Five since 2008, when they gained promotion on home soil along with Afghanistan. They've been promoted from Division Five thee times - in 2008, 2014 and 2016. Jersey have subsequently gone straight back in each of those seasons. However, one of those three successful seasons, in 2014, came in Malaysia.

This is Jersey's third WCL visit to Malaysia, having stayed put in Division Six in 2011. A team on the rise, their batting continues to be spearheaded by the Sussex-contracted Jonty Jenner. Charles Perchard is also hoping to make it two tournament wins from two in his early captaincy reign since taking over from opening batsman Peter Gough.

Player to watch: Ben Stevens

Jersey acutely felt Stevens' absence in Los Angeles when they were relegated. He was forced to watch from the sidelines while receiving medication for an undisclosed medical condition. Taking the field once again in South Africa for Division Five last September, he turned in another sterling effort, finishing as the team's second-highest run-scorer with 204 runs. He also ended tied for the tournament lead with 14 wickets.

Vanuatu

Runner-up at 2017 WCL Division Five

Having been as low as the now defunct Division Eight in 2012, Vanuatu's second-place finish in South Africa vaulted them to their highest global ranking. With their backs to the wall after losing their first two matches, they pulled off an incredible chase on the last day of round-robin action against Germany, chasing 228 in just 28.2 overs to overhaul the net run-rate tiebreaker deficit. Vanuatu then followed it up with a stirring six-wicket upset over Italy in the semi-finals.

The advancement to Division Four coupled with revised ICC eligibility guidelines was all the motivation Vanuatu head coach Shane Deitz, the former South Australia wicketkeeper, needed to take the field again as he prepares to make his international debut for his adopted homeland. It comes more than 10 years after he played his final first-class match in the Sheffield Shield as he looks to boost a batting line-up, anchored by Jonathan Dunn and Nalin Nipiko.

Player to watch: Patrick Matautaava

Vanuatu's rollercoaster ride at the end of Division Five was piloted by allrounder Matautaava, who produced one of the all-time great knocks in the history of the WCL with his 139 not out off 76 balls in the chase against Germany. He then followed that innings with 83 off 60 balls a day later in the win over Italy.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी सत्ता में आने के बाद से ही स्वच्छ भारत अभियान पर जोर देते आ रहे हैं। उनकी इस कोशिश को करीब 4 चाल हो गए हैं, लेकिन भारत में प्रदूषण का स्तर बद से बदतर होता जा रहा है। विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) की ओर से जारी रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक विश्व के 15 प्रदूषित शहरों में अकेले भारत के 14 शामिल हैं। इस लिस्ट में टॉप पर कानपुर शहर है और भारत की राजधानी दिल्ली छठे नंबर पर है। 

2.5 पीएम (फाइन पर्टिकुलर मैटर) को ध्यान में रखते हुए प्रदूषण पर 100 देशों के 4000 शहरों में रिसर्च के बाद ये आकंड़े सामने आए हैं। डब्ल्यूएचओ की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक दिल्ली में प्रदूषण का स्तर साल 2010 से 2014 के बीच नाममात्र का सुधार हुआ था, लेकिन 2015 में राजधानी का हाल फिर से वही हो गया।

डब्ल्यूएचओ के आंकड़ों के मुताबिक 2016 में दिल्ली को छह सालों में सबसे ज्यादा प्रदूषण स्तर बढ़ने वाले शहरों छठे स्थान पर शामिल किया गया। इस दौरान शहर का प्रदूषण स्तर औसत 2.5 पीएम यानि 143 माइक्रोग्राम/ क्यूबिक मीटर रहा, जो नेशनल सेफ स्टेंडर्ड के मुताबिक तीन गुना ज्यादा था।

दूसरी ओर सेंट्रल पॉल्युशन कंट्रोल बोर्ड (सीपीसीबी) के मुताबिक 2016 के मुकाबले 2017 में प्रदूषण का स्तर सुधरा है, लेकिन बोर्ड ने अभी तक इससे जुड़ी रिपोर्ट जारी नहीं की है।
